Obituary for Dorothy Mae Fisher Moore

Dorothy Fisher Moore, passed away on May 7, 2018 in Gautier, MS at the age of 93.
Dorothy (Dot as she was lovingly called) was a seamstress by trade and worked for many years at the B.V.D. plant and then at Ingall’s Shipbuilding for 23 years in the sail loft until she retired in 1995. She was a long time member of Midway Baptist Church and later attended Manna Landmark Missionary Baptist.
Dot lived a Christian life and showed the love of Christ through sharing her gifts of good cooking and hospitality. She was always there to help anyone in need. She was also known for crocheting and making pecan and toll house cookie pies for all of her friends and neighbors. She loved to garden and was very proud to show and share her flowers and vegetables with everyone. She was a very strong willed and independent person and was loved by many. Her affectionate nick-name was Momma Fish and/or Momma Fisher by her many, many add-on teen-agers.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred M. Fisher; parents, James E. and Lula Mae Torrence; sons Fred Wendell Fisher and Stephen Gayle Fisher; Daughter, Karen Lee Fisher; brothers, Elmer Torrence and Chuck Torrence; sister, Minnie Lee Torrence Fisher; granddaughter, Leslie Mae Bradley; grandsons, Jeremy Fisher, Jonathan Fisher, Marcus Lucas and Troy Lucas; daughter in law, Bernice Fisher and sons in law, David Bradley and Kenny Delmas.


She is survived by her one son and three daughters, Monroe (Edith) Fisher: Leona (Al) McLeod, Kathy Delmas and Shelia (Shorty) Green; sisters, Louise Harris and Charlette Branch; Sister-in-law; Minnie Lou Torrence, Eight grandchildren, Bob (Micki) Fisher, Melody (Doug) Bagley, Ashley (Jesse) Garner, Courtney McLeod, Casey (Brittany) McLeod, Joshua (Heather) Fisher, Jason Bradley, Tracie (Cameron) George; surrogate daughter Ivy Crawford Gardner; 21 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Special thanks to the Hospice of Light team; Donna Barnes, Amanda, Shirley, LaToya, and John, as well as, granddaughter Brittany McLeod, her great granddaughters, Alyssa and Hannah Bradley, Ashton Curtis, Kayla Rico and her great grandson, James Rico for aiding in her care.
Dot will also be sorely missed by many treasured nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at Safe Harbor United Methodist Church on Highway 63, Moss Point, on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until 12p.m., with service immediately following with Brother Robbie Murden officiating. Interment will follow at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula. Pallbearers are: James Rico, Joshua Fisher, Tony Fisher, Albert Casey McLeod, Cameron George, Thomas Jesse Garner; Honorary Pallbearers are Bobby Fisher, Terry Evans, Dimitri Curtis, Doug Bagley, and Jason Bradley.
Heritage Funeral Home, locally owned and operated in Escatawpa/Moss Point, MS is in charge of arrangements.
