Obituary for Thomas "Tommie" Cecil Stork

Thomas “Tommie” Cecil Stork, 98, born November 11, 1919 in East Jackson County, MS, in the little community of Pecan, passed away November 15, 2017 at his home surrounded by family and friends.
Cecil is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Aleen C. Colville; parents, Henry W. and Hattie Clark Stork; brothers, Gussie Stork, Henry Stork, Hugh Stork; sisters, Edna (Richard) Brown, Margie (Frank) Saksa, Hannah (Robert) McConaghy, Irene (J.P.) Sessions, Eunice (Sam) Bowden, and son in law, John William Ross.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda Dianne Ross, Tina Marie Thames, and Hattie Paulette Bang; twelve grand children, twelve Great Grandchildren and three Great-Great Grandchildren; brothers, Wesley Howard (Geni Mae) Stork, Irving Eugene Stork; sister, Eva Virginia (Alvin) Carroll; brother in law, George W. “BeBe”(Una) Colville.
Cecil will be sadly missed by all his family and friends who loved him very much, especially his companion and special friend Millie Grant; her family, Teresa (Johnny) Nelson, Marilyn (J.F) McLeod, Neal (Candy) Grant, and Sandy (Larry) Wallace.
Mr. Stork served in the United States Navy during WWII as a Boatswain’s mate 1st class and saw action in the Pacific during the invasion of Okinawa. Mr. Stork served on board the troop transport ship USS Magoffin. Cecil worked as a commercial fisherman for most of his younger years and later became a skilled pipe welder working construction in Mississippi and Louisiana until retirement. He loved the outdoors, taking his family camping, fishing, and crabbing. He enjoyed catching and opening oysters in our local Mississippi waters and later was instrumental in planting other oyster reefs after storms devastated the reefs in the sound. Cecil was an active Life member in the VFW post 3373 in Pascagoula for over 50 years serving as an Officer and Commander for several terms, a member of the American Legion post 160, and member of the order of Cooties. He enjoyed working bingo, the carnival committee, as well as other activities that involved being a member. Cecil was selected as King of the Ball in 1996. Cecil enjoyed taking part in Veterans Day parades and was honored to make The Honor Flight in Washington, D.C in 2013. Cecil enjoyed visiting the VA Hospital patients once a month. Mr. Cecil Stork is a true PATRIOT and PASSIONATE AMERICAN who deeply loved his Country. Cecil was a member of Midway United Methodist Church in Moss Point for many years.
The visitation for Cecil will be held Friday, November 17, 2017 from 1pm until 2pm at Midway United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2pm at the church with Bro. Ron Hill officiating. Interment will follow at Serene Gardens in Escatawpa, with full Military Honors. Pallbearers will be Thomas W. Ross, Michael A. Ross, Paul A. Ross, Thomas Brent Thames, Justin Blake Thames and Neal Grant.
