Obituary for Scott Donald Macfarland

Scott Donald Macfarland, 83, of Gautier, MS passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018, in Biloxi, MS. He was born October 22, 1934 to the late Donald Macfarland and Katherine LaPergola in California. He attended St. Mary Catholic Church in Gautier and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Scott graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School in Connecticut, attended Valley Forge Military Academy and graduated from Seton Hall University in New Jersey. He was a member of the United States military and served in the National Guard, Marine Corps, Army, and Army Reserve. He was also a member of the American Legion Gautier Lodge, Post #1992, and volunteered with Veterans Affairs, Jackson County Youth Court, Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, and the 8th District Conference of Disabled American Veterans. He was a former Gautier Councilman for Ward 4, and a past Grand Master of the Mississippi State Independent Order of Oddfellows.

Scott is survived by his wife, Delores Holmes Rouse Macfarland; children, Scott Donald (Karey) Macfarland, II of Wilksboro, NC, Dawn Macfarland, Chuck Ferguson of Roanoke, VA; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; along with other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018, 5:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Gautier, MS.

Heritage Funeral Home, locally owned and operated in Moss Point/Escatawpa, MS, is in charge of arrangements.
