Obituary for Ronald Wayne Thornton, Sr.

Ronald Wayne Thornton, Sr., age 70 of Moss Point, MS passed away June 1, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 5, 1948 in Heidelberg, MS to the late Marvin and Hilda Thornton. Ronald was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved his family dearly. He was a retired Operator from Chevron, an Air Force Veteran, a former Moss Point Fireman, and was of the Methodist faith. He was an avid fisherman and he loved classic cars, and was a Charter Member of the Magnolia Classic Cruisers.

In addition to his parents, Ronald is preceded in death by his sister, Marla Sicard; son, Joel Thornton; granddaughter, Londyn Webb; and father-in-law, Maxwell Daily.

Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Kristy Daily Thornton; son, Ronald Wayne Thornton, Jr. “Buddy”; daughters, Traci (Raymond) Webb, Jamie(Rube) Webb, Brandi (Tim) Taylor; grandchildren, Shad Daugherty, Justin (Emily) Thornton, Courtney (Lonnie) Dewberry, Jacob Thornton, Trinity Webb, Raymond “R.J.” Webb, Jaidin Young, Mason Young, Skylar Thornton, and Cameron Miller; great grandchildren; Adalynn Dewberry, Hunter Daughtery, and Jaxson Thornton. He is also survived by his sister Joy (Chris) Brunson; brother from another mother- Frank (Sylvia) Cooley; uncle, Sonny (Diane) Buchanan; mother-in-law, Catherine Daily; brother-in-law, Steve Daily; nieces and nephews, Ashley Harris, Terri Harris, Jodi Prine, and Laken Brunson; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Ronald’s family will host a Celebration of Life Service on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at his home for family and friends. Ronald’s wish was to have his ashes scattered in Whiskey Bayou and Colorado at a later date.
