Obituary for Joseph Michael Haney

Joseph Michael Haney went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 after a long struggle with the aftermath of a severe stroke. He was 63. Mike was born in Pascagoula, MS on June 20, 1954 and graduated from Pascagoula High School in 1972. Following high school, Mike joined the U.S. Army and became a Ranger during the Vietnam War. After many years of service in law enforcement, Mike became a Program Manager for Bath Iron Works/General Dynamics in Maine and was based in Pascagoula at Ingalls. He retired from General Dynamics in 2010. Mike attended Mississippi State University but graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from University of Southern Mississippi.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Skeezix and Ellen (Ingram) Haney and his sister, Bonnie Currie.

He is survived by his sister, Lana Smeal of Gautier, MS; daughter, Nikki Haney of New Orleans, LA; nieces, Stephanie (J. B.) Morgan of Gautier and Wendy Currie of Pascagoula; nephews, Joel (Vanessa) Jerkins of Abdingdon, VA; great-nieces and nephews, Jayden Morgan, Kylie Morgan, Blake Morgan, Lena Jerkins, and Kristen Abdelmessih; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
