Obituary for Jimmy D. Ward

Jimmy D. Ward, beloved father, brother, and friend went home to be with the Lord on June 5, 2018 after a short but valiant battle with cancer.
Born in Neshoba County, MS on October 19, 1946, to the late James Alvin and Lucille Ward, he was the third oldest out of a family of 10. He moved from Neshoba County to Pascagoula in 1962. Jimmy became more than a brother, he was a role model and friend to all who came in contact with him. He will be remembered for his love of music and entertaining others and he loved to see everyone around him happy all the time. He also had a passion for traveling and had a deep love for South Africa. He was a 32nd degree mason with Masonic Lodge #202.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his God Father, Tommie Poole and sisters, Polly Laird and Judy McCrory.
He is survived by his children, Eddie (Lindella) Thomas, Scott Thomas, Jimmy (Michelle) Ward Jr., Nicole Ward, Chance Ward, Breanna Ward, and Riley Ward; grandchildren, Tray Ward, Colton Ward, Skyler Gambler, Cassidy Thompson, Jared Thomas, Gabriel Thomas, Aiden Thomas, and Damien Thomas; great-grandchildren, Kaydon Ward, and Cohen Thomas; God Mother, Estelle Poole; siblings, James (Peggy) Ward, Sonny (Linda) Ward, Pete (Juanita) Ward, Tommy (Sara) Ward, Carlene Gray, Susie (Glenn) Sheppard, Martha (Rusty) Davidson, Dale (Karen) Poole, Tommy (Pansy) Poole, and Dianne (Butch) Boren; mothers to his children, Ruth Ward and Janelle Higley; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church on Shortcut Rd.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, FL 33607 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude PL Memphis, TN 38105.
Heritage Funeral Home, locally owned and operated, in Escatawpa/Moss Point, MS is in charge of arrangements.
