Grady Winston Scott, age 85, of Escatawpa, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 18, 2017 at his home. He was born August 29, 1932 in Moss Point. Mr. Scott was a veteran of the Korean War where he served honorably as an artillery instructor. He studied Mechanical Engineering at Mississippi State University. Mr. Scott was employed in the Engineering Department at Ingalls Shipbuilding for over 45 years. He retired in his position as an Engineering Supervisor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Voncile Cranford Scott; his father, Oscar Daniel Scott; his mother, Bessie Cunningham Scott; sisters, Alma Grace “Scotty” Sanderford, Mary Lucille “Jiddy” Garrett, Laura Ruth Cunningham, Barbara Ann Simpson; one brother, Freddie Scott. Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Scott McMahon, Patricia Scott McLeod (Kevin McLeod); one sister, Wanda Schmitz (Halda Schmitz); one granddaughter, Leslie McMahon Clark (Polk Clark); two great grandsons, Nathan Scott Carroll and Jonathon Polk Clark, II; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Grady was an avid jogger and tennis player in his younger years. He enjoyed salt water and fresh water fishing and vegetable gardening. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home in Escatawpa in the chapel, with Funeral Services starting at 2:00 PM.
